This spectacular region of the planet hosts lush and unique natural habitat in the form of dense forests, pristine lakes and rocky mountains (Cordillera). The Cochamo region in Chile is at latitude 41 degrees south, which is the equivalent to Oregon State. Similar to Oregon, this region is beautiful, but rugged and rain is not uncommon.
The horse trail will vary greatly from flat dirt to steep and rocky. You need not worry though; our horses are sure footed and familiar with how to manage the terrain when it becomes difficult. That said, horse riding in the backcountry is a strenuous activity and it helps to be in decent athletic shape. Tent camps are not always comfortable and you may be asked to pitch in and help out as part of our expedition team. As part of the trip we do stay in Refugios and cabins which are more comfortable but still a rustic experience. That said, if living with our horses on the trail, close to nature and the elements sounds like a challenge you are willing to meet this can be the experience of a lifetime!
This horse-back ride is the adventure of a life time. You will undoubtedly have experiences along this journey that will become unforgettable memories. Nothing compares to being in a pristine natural setting in a beautiful part of our planet, riding with your horse partner.
