Jakob spent ten years in the outdoor industry working as a ski guide and rock climbing instructor in California and Alaska. After a successful career in the alternative energy industry where he owned and operated a solar installation company he decided to return to the adventure industry and founded Treks and Tracks in 2006. He is certified as an Canadian Level I Avalanche Analyst and certified as a Single Pitch Climbing Instructor by the AMGA. Besides climbing and mountaineering Jakob spends his free time surfing on the California coast.

Daniel Laggner

Daniel holds a master's degree in environmental science. He loves nothing more than educating people on the wilderness that surrounds them. Other than being a scientist, Daniel has worked as a rock climbing instructor at Planet Granite in San Francisco, CA and as a climbing coach for the Warehouse rock climbing gym team in Olympia, WA . He is certified as a Canadian Level I Avalanche Analyst and certified as a Single Pitch Climbing Instructor by the AMGA. He loves to explore the mountains of the Washington Cascades but also loves to climb granite in California.

Paul has been climbing, surfing and skiing since he was old enough to walk. His technical climbing abilities make him an excellent instructor for those looking to push their rock climbing to the next level. His need for adventure has taken him to remote places such as Indonesia, Peru and the remote Colorado wilderness. Paul is a certified Single Pitch Climbing Instructor by the AMGA.

In his free time you’ll find Paul climbing in the Sierra high country or chasing uncrowded waves somewhere on the coast.

Chris Kalman

Chris has been a devoted rock climber, and outdoors enthusiast for 16+ years.  After college, he began working on trail crew in Rocky Mountain National Park, and eventually became a climbing ranger at Mount Rainier National park, where he spent two summers.  In his free time, he establishes new routes on granite big walls in Southern Chile, and works as a freelance author.  He is on track to becoming an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, has training as a Wilderness EMT, and has extensive knowledge and practice in rigging, and search and rescue.

Justin is a climbing and backpacking fiend, hailing from the SF Bay Area. He is always on the hunt for new projects and places to explore. Being an instructor is a passion of his and he loves to get people psyched on the outdoors, especially rock climbing. On his off days you can find him on a Joshua Tree slab, pulling on knobs in Tuolumne, or testing his skin bouldering in Tahoe. Justin is on a never-ending quest to explore California's natural playgrounds and share them with others. Justin is certified as an AMGA SPI guide.

Mike Stahlman

Received a degree in Eco-Tourism and Adventure Travel from Hocking College, and another Tourism Resources with a concentration in Adventure Guiding.  First working as a Backcountry and Rope guide his love for people, keeping them safe, and taking them on adventures, propelled his career forward.

 

Over the past decade, some achievements and professions include, Master Scuba Diver Trainer in an array of waters.  Full time Urban EMT for Star City Fire Department, while, and after attending college.  Operating as Wilderness EMT in remote wilderness locations, such as the Red River Gorge in Kentucky, and the northern tips of the Appalachian mountains.  On rotations to the largest, and least inhabited island in the Bahamas, he would operate as a U.S.C.G. Medical Person in Charge for educational field stations, private island resorts, and treat the natives of the islands.

 

Four years ago, Michael began to share his knowledge with the world as a Scuba and Survivalist Mentor, Adventure Leadership Educator and Wilderness First Aid Instructor.   Look for him guiding, or instructing one of Treks and Tracks awesome classes, and do not hesitate to pick his brain!

Reed Goodwin

A native of southern California, Reed has been rock climbing for over 25 years. Whether guiding or climbing himself, you can find Reed at Malibu Creek more days than not. Between his depth of experience and enthusiasm for teaching, Reed is an excellent instructor of both beginning and advanced rock climbing. Even when not on the rock, Reed stays active mountain biking, swimming and at the gym.

Cate grew up in Montana and started climbing while in high school. After high school, she attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where she worked at the climbing wall and enjoyed teaching fellow students about climbing. After college she returned to Montana to get a Master’s degree in biochemistry. While in graduate school she climbed a lot and also earned her EMT-B certification. As a recent transplant to the Seattle area, she is learning more about what the Pacific Northwest has to offer for climbing, hiking and skiing and is enjoying having a season for every sport.

 Kevin has enjoyed many a single and multi day hikes and climbs of peaks in California’s High Sierra, Yosemite, Tahoe, and Shasta regions as well as excursions in Utah’s Zion and N.Y Adirondack regions. Kevin is a Certified AMGA Single Pitch Instructor. He is passionate about everything outdoors and sharing the experience with others and has been known to cook up a good camp meal every now and then.

Enthusiastic and energetic, Simon has been climbing for over a decade and has always viewed the mountains as his personal playground. He sees the challenges presented by climbing and the mountain environment as the as the perfect tools and ideal backdrop for personal development, and Simon is dedicated to sharing those experiences and benefits with others. His natural curiosity has thrown him to many parts of the world, leading him on a pilgrimage across Spain and to spend chilly nights amongst the high peaks of Perú. When there is time left over Simon spends it working as a firefighter with the Ben Lomond Fire Department, and building classical guitars.
